The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) was today named ‘Emerging Exchange of the Year’ at the Futures and Options World (FOW) Awards for Asia 2016 in Singapore. The award is awarded to the most innovative and promising exchange in Asia, the Middle East or Australasia. It is one of the highest honors in the exchange and clearing house sector.
The award is the latest international recognition of TAIFEX, which has won four international awards in the past two years, including the ‘Financial Derivative Exchange of the Year’ award at The Asian Banker Financial Markets Awards in 2015 and 2016, the ‘Most Innovative New Contract – Equities’ at the Futures and Options World (FOW) Awards for Asia 2015 and the ‘Best Exchange for Offshore RMB FX Futures by Region’ award by The Asian Banker in 2015.
The ‘Emerging Exchange of the Year’ award recognizes TAIFEX’ strong performance in 2015 and 2016, including its contract growth, revenue/profit growth and the development of new facilities and services, among others. Over the past few years, TAIFEX’ performance has gone from strength to strength, with total trading volume reaching 165.6 million contracts from January to August 2016. The most active contracts, TAIEX Options and TAIEX Futures, have continued to boost TAIFEX’ appeal to foreign participation, which now makes up 33% of total trading volume.
Dr. Len-Yu Liu, TAIFEX Chairman, said, “We are delighted to have been named the winner of this prestigious award. We will continue to take steps to grow the Taiwan futures market by introducing more products that meet the needs of both domestic and international investors, while also implementing other initiatives that further align our market with global standards.”
